Tokenomics Banner The OpenKol token is designed to be product utility first. It’s not required to use OpenKol. The core product remains usable in a free tier — the token is for users who want more power, more depth, and more receipts.
This page describes intended utility and product mechanics. It is not financial advice.

What the token is for

OpenKol has one core problem: verification is valuable, but compute + data + storage aren’t free. The token is used to unlock:
  • Higher lookup limits
  • Deeper analytics
  • KOL credibility tools
  • (Optional) pay-per-lookup access for non-holders

Utility 1: Higher lookup limits (primary)

Holding or staking the token increases your daily/monthly limits. Examples of what higher tiers unlock:
  • more analysis lookups per day
  • more profile lookups
  • more saved watchlists
  • longer history windows
  • faster refresh rate / priority queue during heavy load
This is the simplest and most honest utility: more usage for power users.

Utility 2: Pay-per-lookup (soon)

Not everyone wants to hold a token. If enabled, users can pay a small fee in token to:
  • run an analysis
  • refresh an existing analysis
  • unlock a deeper breakdown on-demand
This creates utility even for users who only want to use OpenKol occasionally.

Utility 3: KOL tools (claim + share kit)

KOLs (and builders) care about identity and receipts. Holding/staking the token can unlock:
  • Claim profile (connect identity + show it’s you)
  • Verified badge on OpenKol
  • Share kit (custom OG cards / pinned receipts / embeds)
  • Profile customization (links, highlights, featured calls)
Important rule: This does not change your score. Scores remain deterministic and data-based — you can’t pay to rank.

Tiering

OpenKol can support both Hold and Stake models. Hold: unlocks standard power-user tiers Stake: unlocks higher tiers + additional perks (and can be time-locked) Example tier types:
  • Aper: more lookups + watchlists
  • Hunter: deeper history windows + faster refresh
  • KOL: claim profile + share kit perks
  • Pro: highest limits + advanced exports (optional)
Exact thresholds and limits will be published once finalized.

Sinks and sustainability (planned)

To keep utility sustainable, token flows can include:
  • fees from pay-per-lookup
  • subscription payments (if offered in token)
  • optional burns or treasury routing (only if it matches the business model)
The goal is simple: token usage maps to product usage.

What token holders do not control

To protect trust in scoring, token holders will not be able to:
  • manually override individual scores
  • pay to improve medals
  • change scoring in a way that benefits a specific wallet/KOL
If governance is introduced, it should be limited to:
  • non-sensitive parameters
  • changes with timelocks
  • transparent proposals + audits of impact

Status

Token utility will ship in phases:
  1. Higher lookup limits
  2. KOL claim + share perks
  3. Optional: pay-per-lookup
  4. Optional: curation rewards
When tokenomics numbers (supply, allocations, vesting, emissions) are ready, they will be published here with a clear table and unlock schedule.
